Auditor Certification Board
The Auditor Certification Board is authorized under section 221 of the Business Corporations Act. The function of the Board is to receive applications from persons, other than those specified under section 205(a) and 205(c) of the Act (Chartered Accountants and Certified General Accountants), who apply to be certified as auditors and to certify those persons where, in the Board's opinion, they have the qualifications necessary to be auditors. The members of the Board are appointed by Order in Council.
The purpose of certification is to authorize individuals or firms to act as auditors for both attest audits and compliance audits in circumstances where such authorization is required by statute or regulation.
