Global Bonds

This program is used when financing in large size is needed and the global market provides the most cost-effective means of raising funds. The province agrees to sell a specified amount of marketable bonds to a syndicate of underwriters, which then markets the bonds to investors. Bonds are:

• typically issued in U.S. or Canadian dollars
• simultaneously offered for sale in Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia
• governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable in B.C.
• settled through The Canadian Depository for Securities Limited (CDS), The Depository Trust Company (DTC), Clearstream or the Euroclear System
• book-based form (non-bearer) only
• listed in Luxembourg
