The University College of the Cariboo became Thompson Rivers University on April 1, 2005 (College and Institute Act S.9). The role of community and university colleges as we move into the 21st century will be to provide continuing skills upgrading and post-secondary education at the community level to meet the changing needs of each local economy and workforce.
