Dr. Johann Brink is a medico-legal consultant and Clinical Professor and Head at Forensic Psychiatry at University of British Columbia. Dr. Brink is also an Adjunct professor in the School of Criminology at Simon Fraser University. Active in his community, he serves as the mental health and law expert on the Advisory Council of the Mental Health Commission of Canada and the Federal-Provincial-Territorial Mental Health Task Force. Dr. Brink is also a member of the Panel of Assessors in Dangerous and Long-Term Offender Applications. Previously, he served as a Member of the Criminal Code Review Board of BC from 1997 until 2001, when he joined the Forensic Psychiatric Services Commission as a psychiatrist and Director of Research. Dr. Brink became Clinical Director and later Vice President of Medical Affairs & Research for BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services, a program of the PHSA. He is a licensed psychiatrist in BC and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Brink also holds a Medical Degree from the University of Cape Town and a Bachelor of Arts Honours (cum laude) in Philosophy and a from the University of South Africa.
