assessment tools, produced by Internal Audit & Advisory Services (IAAS),
have proven effective in assessing risk throughout organizations. These
tools are nonproprietary but we ask that when utilizing any of the IAAS-developed
risk assessment tools, IAAS receives acknowledgment for their use.

The 5 risk assessment
criteria set out in the document below allow for the comprehensive assessment
of the risks and potential benefits associated with government programs
and functional areas.
These criteria were
developed based on a review of professional literature, discussion with
internal audit groups across Canada, discussions with public sector management,
and experience gained by the Internal Audit & Advisory Services (IAAS). Please contact

Risk Maturity Model
This model was developed
by Basil Orsini, Director - Policy, Planning & Client Support, Human
Resources Development Canada to assess an organization's risk management.
The model is particularly useful in assessing risk management culture.
