Policy and Revenue Services

Policy and Revenue Services provides policy analysis and advice to government regarding the financial and corporate sectors, collects taxes and forest revenues, provides taxpayer education, adjudicates Medical Service Premiums appeals, validates overpayments, and provides appeals resolution and litigation management services.

Policy and Revenue Services has five branches:

  • Financial and Corporate Sector Policy provides policy analysis and advice to government regarding the financial and corporate sectors generally, and in particular regarding:
    • the regulatory frameworks applicable to credit unions, trust companies and insurance companies operating in British Columbia, the province’s securities market, and the sale of real estate, insurance and mortgages in British Columbia.
    • the legal frameworks applicable to companies, societies, partnerships and condominiums, the use of personal property as collateral for loans and various liens
  • Policy and Legislation provides corporate, program and inter-ministry policy and legislative services and advice, manages all phases of the ministry legislative program, response to requests for tax rulings and interpretations, and manages all aspects of the ministry’s regulatory reform program.
