Tax Appeals and Administrative Services provides appeals resolution and litigation management services relating to the various tax and revenue statutes, and is responsible for customer service delivery that supports the overall administration of tax and benefit programs. Tax Appeals and Administrative Services also
- provides front-line service delivery to the majority of Revenue Programs division’s clients
- provides appeals resolution and litigation management services through the impartial analysis of files based on the consistent application of the applicable law and policy
- manages two ministry-wide customer service centres
- operates the ministry’s call centre for consumption taxes
- provides consumption tax administration functions (account registrations, account closures, clearance certificates etc.)
- develops and manages public information materials and outreach programs, and conducts seminars for tax program areas.
These initiatives, services and programs help to ensure our customers are aware of the information and services that are available to them, thereby enabling them to better understand their tax obligations and entitlements. By providing assistance and information, we promote voluntary compliance and help enhance the overall business climate within British Columbia.
